Planning your Toddler meal
Picky eater & fussy child
Are you a new parent and your child is fussy when it comes to eating, here some tips for you:
1. Plan your toddler meal a day before : A toddler must have three regular meals a day and two healthy snacks in between meals.
2. Serve a variety of good foods for your toddler to eat at each meal like moong dal chilla, fruit smoothie, ragi daliya, burji, roasted paneer.
3. Introduce new foods one at a time and in small amounts.
4. Try to schedule a new food when you know your child is hungry – a snack of mango slices (in summers) or broccoli corn salad when she has the afternoon munchies, for example.
5.Use toddler-size portions. A serving size for a toddler is about 1/4 of a single portion for an adult. Example- serving of vegetables is only about 1 or 2 tablespoons.
6.Look for ways to boost the #nutritional value of the dishes your toddler enjoys like adding sprouts in daliya, nutri bhurji in roti, desi ghee shakar in roti, fruits and jaggery (gur) in curd, peanut butter in smoothie, ragi in suji idli, quinoa in normal poha.
Patience with child will help to enjoy eating time with him. So enjoy every moment with your child.
